Porsche’s 918 Spyder is not just a looker. It’s one of the most advanced pieces of machinery  that’s (almost) on the roads today, with speed and handling to match.

“The car doesn’t feel anything like as heavy as the claimed weight. It doesn’t have the inertia at all, the steering’s very direct, it’s a very interesting car.”

Three motors, active aerodynamics and all manner of material wizzbangery designed to keep the car as light and sharp as possible while still lugging around three motors and enough batteries for its electronic motor make it quite the marvel.

Plus it has an engine cover which looks like Darth Vader’s helmet, and the sound when the combustion motor’s on full song is immense!

This is a genuine 25 year anniversary model Carrera, designated by its 1989 model year vin and 099 option code.

There were only approximately 800 of these cars sold worldwide, and just a handful were delivered to Australia. This car was delivered by Hamiltons in Melbourne in January 1989.

The Anniversary models are instantly recognisable as they have the centre console originally seen on the 930 Turbo LE and the silver/blue full leather interiors with silver carpet.

This car is well known to us, having serviced it for its previous two owners. It is in lovely condition and would make a great special edition 911 to keep for future classic value.

Comes with all of its original books and an excellent service history with loads of invoices. New soft top fitted a few years back and we’ve just given the car its yearly oil change service and aircon service.

Buy a $9200 1977 911 S, change the tyres and oil, service the brakes and clutch and then head out for a 2700 mile road trip across the United States from California to Amelia Island in Florida for the world-famous Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance. Sounds like our sort of adventure!

It’s what writer Yoav Gilad did for this year’s Amelia Island Concours D’Elegance and Porsche’s special 50th anniversary celebrations for the 911, and it looks like he had a ball.

His 1977 911 S turned out to be a star, and really demonstrates why seventy percent of all Porsches ever built are still on the road. It’s a low mileage car, which is both a good and a bad thing, as cars don’t like to spend time sitting still, but it looks in fantastic nick, and it certainly handled the road trip with aplomb.

In this video from Jay Leno’s Garage, Yoav invites you along for a drive while he chats about the car, its history and the road trip they shared together.

This stunning 993S was delivered by Porsche Parramatta in April 1997. Being the S it shares the fantastic wide body shape of the Turbo cars, but features the normally aspirated 285 horsepower spec engine.

This car is finished in Ocean Blue Metallic with lovely contrasting grey leather. The condition of the paint and interior is excellent, showing very little wear.

This car is equipped with Porsche’s bullet proof tiptronic transmission, which is fantastic in today’s heavy traffic and yet still gets plenty sporty when the urge takes you on an open road.

These last of the air cooled cars are extremely popular and even more so in ‘S’ form, so it’s one that is sure to be a future classic.

The car has just been fully serviced and checked over by us this month and is not due for a major service for quite a while. Comes with a full set of original books.

Between Magnus Walker’s ‘Urban Outlaw’ short film and recent interest in Singer 911s, personalised Porsches are really starting to capture the imagination of a broader audience.

In this video Jay Leno invites Magnus Walker and his 1972 Porsche 911 72STR 002 into his garage for a chat. They go into detail about Magnus’ design choices, Porsche preferences and ethos before giving Jay the keys and heading out to the streets of Los Angeles for a cruise. It’s a fascinating and entertaining chat, set against the backdrop of a beautiful classic Porsche.

2013 is a very special year for Porsche. It marks the 50th anniversary of the special moment at the Frankfurt Motor Show when the 911 was unveiled to the world.

In those 50 years the 911′s changed the face of the sports car world immeasurably. Along the way it’s also had an immense impact on the history of motorsport, and 911s and their derivatives have won everything from the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to the Dakar Rally, Pikes Peak, club events and everything in between.

If Porsche had made a 911 Club Sport version in the early ’80s it probably would have looked something like this.

This car was optioned without a sunroof (lightweight), does not have electric seats (lightweight), has front and rear spoilers, a 915 gearbox (lightweight), Carrera Side Decals (looks fast & can easily be removed if required) and the full monty 231 horsepower engine. What a rocket in the day!

Built in November 1983 and delivered in March 1984 by John Newell Porsche Sydney, this car looks to have had the usual five or so owners.

The service books are excellent, showing consistent servicing from start to finish, predominantly by main dealers. There is also a thick folder of invoices from the last owner who had the car for approximately 8 years.

Prior to taking this car into stock, we carried out a compression and leakdown test, which it passed well within specifications. The car was also given a thorough mechanical checkover and had any jobs done that we deemed necessary.

Be quick, these early 3.2 Carreras have noticeably crept up in price over the last 12 months as they are held tightly by their owners for future classic status and rarely come onto the market. This car only came along as it was traded with us on a 993 Carrera S.

It’s a lovely Thursday morning, and once we’ve put in a good day of Porsche tinkering, we’re heading out to enjoy the Easter long weekend.

Which is a great time for a road trip or a weekend drive!

This video from Maurice van den Tillaard does just that, cruising with Magnus Walker through the streets of Los Angeles in his 1976 911 Turbo Carrera. Enjoy, and have a most excellent weekend!

The Easter weekend is a wonderful one; four days of freedom spent in the still-feels-like-summer warmth, surrounded by family, friends, chocolate and hot cross buns.  And if you’re into cars, there’s the Bathurst Motor Festival to enjoy!

It’s going to be held over the 29th to the 31st of March (that’s this weekend!) and should see about three hundred cars competing in regularity and race events that will have the hills echoing with the sound of motorsport for a full three days.

Among the categories competing will be Formula 3, NSW Production Touring Cars, Production Sports Cars, Formula Vee and regularity categories including the very active and just a little competitive Porsche Club of New South Wales.

We’re looking forward to catching up with and supporting a stellar crew who are joining us to compete in regularity, as well as supporting Stephen Borness and Bill Pye in Production Sports Cars.
